Infrastructure
The current infrastructure in Tanjung Manis has been developed by the Sarawak Government through Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC) at a total investment of RM1.37 billion, including: a road network, airport, sea port, ferry terminal, government offices, ready-built factories, housing and amenities. The Federal Government has also built the RM350 million Lembaga Kemajuan Ikan Malaysia (LKIM) Deep Sea Fishery Port.
AIRPORT
Tanjung Manis Airport, which was completed more than five years ago with a 1,500 meter runway, can accommodate the landing of aircraft such as Twin Otter DHC-6, Dash 8-200 Series and Dornier 228. Currently, the airport caters to MASwings for daily flights from Kuching. The airport will be expanded in view of future increase in passenger and cargo volume as a result of development of Tanjung Manis Halal Hub.
PORT FACILITIES
The Tanjung Manis Integrated Port has a history of 100 years in existence and is a natural port area. The port is located approximately 26km from the entrance of the Rejang River. The wharf-side depth is 10m, and wharf area 202m x 46.57m. The port can handle general cargo and containers and has capacity for 25,000 TEUs per annum. The current port will be expanded and upgraded to become one of the main transhipment hub for Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE).
DRAINAGE AND FLOOD SYSTEMS
A good network of rivers provides the area with many outflow channels, which mitigates against flooding.
SECURITY AND SAFETY
A new police station has been developed and located at Bandar Baru Tanjung Manis. The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency base will also be located at the Sg Selumit area. The Fire and Rescue Department is also in the process of setting up a Fire and Rescue Station at Tanjung Manis, near the police station location. Security and safety is a priority at Tanjung Manis Halal Hub.
